When a wave brakes, the colour of the water at the very top becomes the same as the colour of the water in the Caribbean, a beautiful blue/green that makes you think of sandy white beaches and palm trees. Then the water hits you in the face and you are back to reality; >30 knots of wind and waves of a height that triggers my vertigo. The last part of our crossing was anything but comfortable, but at least it also meant that we were racing towards Horta with a for Mjølner unknown speed.
And finally, on June 2nd just before sunset we see land! Faial and the unmistakable peak of the volcano Pico. The waves build up just to give us that extra pleasure of knowing that tomorrow we will at last have solid ground under our feet. 18 days of sea, a beer to celebrate, and then finally: sleep!
Gefeliciteerd met weer een geslaagde overtocht!
Moet toch wel vaak aan jullie denken.
Veel plezier
Thijs, Caro Valerie en Floyd
Good to hear you are all fine! Ready for the last part of your adventure? Or do you wish it could all last a bit longer? When will you be back in NL or will you go to Denmark? Love, Eva
Congratulations! You did it again!
Welcome back in Europe!
Love,
Blanca
